Agricultural exports from Costa Rica rose by 11.7 per cent in the first two months of this year, according to Costa Rican agency the Promotora del Comercio Exterior de Costa Rica( Procomer).
Figures for the agricultural sector in January and February revealed that the value of exports rose to us$327.6 million, 23.2 per cent of the country’s total exports.
Bananas remained the leading product, representing us$111.2 million,
14.3 per cent higher than the year-earlier period.
Pineapples were second, at us$66.7 million, 13.4 per cent higher than 2006.
Coffee was the third most important agricultural export.
